Winter Fairy Tale
In the midst of the Kitzbühel Alps and simultaneously
in the heart of Central Europe’s biggest nature
sanctuary – the Hohe Tauern National Park: That
says the most important thing about the Wildkogel Ski
Arena, probably the friendliest ski area in all of Austria.
Experience the fascinating beauty of mountains and forests
covered deep in snow. Fill your lungs with the clear air
as you get out and about in the great outdoors. The base
station of the Wildkogel Lifts lies virtually at your
front door. Step right into the 6-person cabin lift and
let yourself be hoisted up to 2,100 metres above sea level.
Experience the winter with every fibre of your
being
Neukirchen am Grossvenediger offers a cosy setting for
all your holiday hopes and dreams. High standards of hospitality
go hand in hand with a wintry-white programme of sports
and fun – on and away from the groomed trails and
slopes. Downhill and cross-country skiing, carving, boarding,
paragliding, horseback riding, National Park Ranger-led
snowshoe or torchlight hikes, perhaps even including an
opportunity to build an igloo. A special highlight is
the 14 km-long sledding run, floodlit from start to its
finish in Bramberg. |

Skiing

The Wildkogel Ski Arena lies in the heart of the Kitzbühel
Alps and is within easy, convenient reach via toll-free
roads. The Wildkogel promises exceptional views of the
Hohe Tauern National Park’s 3,000-metre peaks and
of the Grossvenediger (elev. 3,674 m). For many, it is
the most beautiful lookout mountain in the Oberpinzgau
region. The Wildkogel Ski Arena offers magical conditions
from December until April to families, skiers, boarders,
carvers and deep-snow specialists. And: Not without cause
is the Wildkogel Ski Arena said to be “Probably
the friendliest ski area in Austria".

Tobogganing

|

Being as it is “probably the friendliest ski area”
around, the Wildkogel Ski Arena already has everyone on
its side. And with what is likely the world’s longest
toboggan run, the Ski Arena has managed to chalk up yet
another record-setting highlight. But before it’s
finally time to zoom off down the hills, you will need
to hop aboard the Wildkogel Lifts with your “hot
rod” sled and enjoy the relaxing ride up to those
loftier elevations (sledding ticket: adults and youths
EUR 5.00 / children EUR 3.00). Then, after a brief 15-min.
walk towards the Wildkogelhaus and the start of the toboggan
run, it’s time to let loose! As they hurtle down
a hill that is all of 14 km in length, sledders will drop
an incredible 1300 metres in elevation before finally
arriving in Bramberg. Anything that slides downhill is
allowed – be that a break-neck racing toboggan,
a comfortable sled, or a cool-looking bob. The ride down
takes around 30 – 50 minutes, depending on how skilled
you happen to be. Incidentally: The full length of the
run is floodlit until 10:00 p.m. – giving your night-time
hours that extra special kick! Every Tuesday and Friday,
you can even ride the Wildkogel Lifts up until 6:30 p.m.
Toboggans, sleds and bobs can all be rented from the local
sports shops in Neukirchen and Bramberg. |
